I have a rope bed headboard and footboard that I am trying to restore to sell.

I have to make rails and need to know the spacing of the holes (can I copy the headboard and footboard hole spaces?), but really need an idea how to string/weave the rope (what diameter rope?).

I have several books on antique furniture, and will be looking through them, but if anyone has a quick source I will really appreciate it!
