About four weeks ago, I purchased the Rockler remote dust collector switch unit. It worked great for the first few weeks, however today the built in circuit breaker is tripping before the dust collector turns on fully. I have not made any changes to the dust collector and cannot see why it would all of a sudden be drawing more amps on start up. I even disconnected the dust collector from any ports and the unit stiil tripped. Looking for ideas/suggestions/thoughts
Thanks in advance. Kieran

yes I know it worked a few times before it started tripping but like a break once it starts tripping he becomes eaiser to trip the next time.
The product reviews were excellent and quite a number of responders were using it with the same type of 1.5 HP dust collector without a problem. Do you know for a fact that the switch is 15 amp (not in my shop at present).
Thanks.
I don't have the rockler switch but a co worker had the same one from WoodCraft. He had used it on a older sears Shop vac for awhile and was pleased. He switched over to a Delta dust collector and started having problems. I spent a fair amount of time until I discovered that the switch was set to operate at 15 amps. His old shop vac ran at 12 amps and the new(to him) dust collector was twenty amps.My guess is that you're having the same problem. A quick check is to pull a lower amp item into the switch and see what happens.

Thanks for the help. Will try this week.
I seem to remember someone else having this same problem a month or two ago. Not you, was it?? Nope, it was whiskeytango in this thread.

Thanks FG for the heads up. Just goes to show that the search engine here is a powerful tool and a wealth of information.
