I’ve read several posts mentioning riser blocks on bandsaws. I just purchased a Delta 14″ bandsaw and am considering adding the riser block now before I get too far into using it so I don’t waste money on blades. I don’t know how much resawing I’ll do, but I’d hate to want to and not be able. Is there any downside to adding the riser?

None that I know of, I do know I have already resawed some 8" white oak Cut it quite easily with Timberwolf blades.
I've got one on an old 1940 Delta, and oddly enough, the thing ran smoother than when I had the regular set. Go for it!
Campbelldust,
I'd highly recommend a riser kit for a 14" band saw. It can prove invaluable when cutting your own veneer, or bookmatching panels. I do have one question for you - what are you using to joint your wood? If you have a 6" jointer, you're going to have to plane down your riser block'ed band sawn wood by hand! Just a thought...

JC-
I don't own a jointer. I've been trying to get by without one by using the tablesaw.
