Riser block modifications for 14″bandsaw
Frannk:
I am not familiar with the saw that you mention, however with the ancient Rockwell saw that I rescued from the scrap pile many years ago,I find that the 3/4 H.P.motor has ample power.
I think that the secret to successful resawing is to use a proper blade and to allow the saw ample time to make the cut.
I did replace the spring with one from Iturra
as well as replace the old tires with new ones from the same source.
I do not want to open up the question of band saw lead as it will go on forever, except to state that if the teeth on the blade project the same on both sides and are sharp, there is no reason for anything but a straight cut. F.Y.I.I use 1/2″-3pitch X 105″hard edge claw tooth blades for all of my resawing.

I have a Jet. I would not put a riser on mine since it is too wobbly as it is. But, I had a similar Rockwell years back with a riser. Never had power issues with a 1 HP motor. The existing spring is fine if you use a 1/2" blade. Maybe could use a little more tension if you try to use a 3/4. I frequently use a 3/4 3 TPI blade for resawing in my Jet. Have Carter guides, so I'm not sure how it would fit the factory guides. I use the factory spring. No real problem.
