Rigid’s new contractor table saw, Model TS3612, seems like a great saw; at least from reading
the Rigid marketing information. Does anyone own one and have some real life comments?
I’m in the market for a solid contractors or cabinet table saw for about $600, give or take.

I was just in the Ridgid forum and everyone seems to like the 3612 very much. The only thing negative they had to say is how difficult it was at some Home Depot's to get their hands on the saw. Seems the SKU is the same as the 2424 and one had to physically search for the boxes if their wasn't a demo set up.

I looked at the Ridgid products and almost bought the saw. I was very concerned with the saftey issue of the cast webed wings. It seems to me that it would be easy to catch a finger in it. I ended up with the new DeWalt saw and am very very pleased with it.
It's funny that you mentioned about the finger catching, because the people on the Ridgid forum have mentioned that in years of using the web extensions they have never caught their finger.
Just reporting what I read.

I am certainly gald to hear no one has caught their finger. I was only passing along my concern. I have always been concerned with the web extentions. The Craftsman, I believe, also has webed extention. It is simply my concern and it must not be a concern with any basis. But I can live with that.
Thanks for the feedback
The people in the Ridgid forum also said the web extensions were nice for attaching featherboards, clamps, etc. The only negative is that stuff falls through when you set it on them. :))

My old Craftsman contractor's saw had web type extensions which I never gave any thought to while I had it. I've upgraded to a cabinet saw with solid extensions. Got so used to having featherboards where ever I needed them on the open extensions I had to pick up a couple of those magnetic jobbies. They really work and they're a lot faster to set up than clamping something to the table webs.

Good point. Never thought about those.
