I had a DOH! moment and am asking advice…..
Had just finished for the day, final sanding on a beech F&P door. Shellac to start the next day. With best intentions, I stickered the door before laying it flat for the night.
Problem is — I used a couple chunks of pine. Sap from pine knots stained the beech stiles on the show side (two spots, each about the size of a quarter).
Question — how can I draw these sap stains out? Tried acetone/rag/hot iron but it didn’t work–stains showed up a day later. Tried mineral spirits/rag/hot iron, which sort of worked. Anything else I should be trying?? Stains treated with acetone and mineral spirits still showed through the shellac.
Any tips, tricks or advice (other than “paint it black”) will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Peter

You might try similar methods, but using turpentine -- the real stuff.
It's a stretch, but it might do a bit better than the mineral spirits.
Good luck.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot!
Sorry for the late reply, off at a remote camp with sketchy internet. I'll let you know if it works.
Cheers,
Peter
