I live on what is left of an old diary farm. Recently the large (36’X90′) 100 year old dairy barn collapsed under the weight of a heavy snow and old age. This barn has a lot of old growth oak, maple, cedar, hemlock and various other types of wood in varying states of condition. Some of it is very good.
Some of the oak timbers are in very good condition and could be used to make some very good creations with a little effort and creativity. I know this is true because that has already been done by a friend of mine with some of the wood.
There is way too much of it for him to ever use it all up, so I am offering it to anyone who is willing and able to put it too good use. I just hate the idea of doing the expedient thing and burn this wood as I have seen done with so many of the old barns in this area. This is wood that can not be replaced.
I live near Ann Arbor, Michigan in an area called Saline. Those of you who are in Michigan will probably know where this is.
I can be contacted at my home:

Ken,
Wow, I live down in Monroe and I definetly have some use for 6 8"x8" or 10"x10" beams for a repair, and I can always use barn siding, as much as I can get for work. A call is on its way as I'll be in Chicago working Sun through Tues.

Don;
Glad to be of service. The second phone number I posted is my cell phone which it is easier to reach me on during the daytime. Just in case you missed it: 734-649-2081 Home is 734-429-2214
I have plenty of the type of beams you need. I just finished adding some good ones to the pile today. Unfortunately I have no place for them that is covered so they are out in the weather. I think they will still be OK until you are available though.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Ken,
In case you've missed my message, I left one and will talk to you soon. I'll be back Tuesday night and will call Wed.
Don
I'd also be interested in taking a look, I'm in Toledo, Ohio. I'll give you a call...
Adam
Ken - I live in Canton, and will be giving you a call (now I don't have to drive to Canada for old wood!)...

I hope to hear from you soon. I have received several responses to my posting and the wood is going well. One of the fellows took a piece of the maple and cleaned it up and put some finish on it and it really looks good. There is some nice wood in this pile.
