Bob, It was about a week ago that you sent me a suggested plan of attack for scaring my ‘puter back into action.
Problem was,it wasn’t doin’ nuttn! The other problem is that I couldn’t find which thread I was in at that time to answer you. I suspect a touch of softening in the wetwear department may be responsible for this!
A contributing factor is that it is STILL witholding its services, notwithstanding that I have already done the isolate, unplug, replug thing….mutter, mutter, mutter, etc.,etc.,and I won’t be home agin for a week or so.
I’ll keep pluggin away, but it looks like another trip to the menders, unfortunately.
I appreciate your assistance and suggestions, many thanks again
Robin, with eyes crossed and steam gushing from cranialborn orifices.

Hey I still have my first MAC bought used in 1990. If I were to turn it on I could pick right up and go. Never a problem. Never a crash unless I plugged into an ungrounded out let.And you know what ? This big monster I posted is less than half the price I paid for the little 1990 postage stamp. What else can you buy today that now costs half as much as it did in 1990 ?It is all MACs all the time at this house . . . three computers, a few iPods, iPhone , iPod Touch, WiFi.it is all great stuff.Knocking on wood,

It's astounding to run across someone who can use the word "recalcitrant"* but doesn't know that the matter behind the eyes and between the ears is known as "jellyware!" ;-)
good luck with your electrical computational machine.

* PS, not to mention "sartorial" and "distaf" which I just happened upon in another post. Knots is going to turn into a crosswords forum with this sort of go-ins on!

If it has become "jellyware" rather than wet ware you are becoming too set in your ways!

Good one.

You don't know the half of it. "Set" is just the word -- like in concrete. But I'm sure I'm not the only one with a hard noggin.Verne
