I was wondering if cypress would be a good choice. If not what would be the best 4 types to use. I want each one to be different.

If they are just toy boxes cypress would be fine. It is kind of soft so it will "age" quickly. If they are meant to transform into lifetime keepsake or blanket chests hardwood may be a better choice. If using the same design and different woods stick to "quiet" grain like rift or quartered stock.
How about cherry, white oak, maple, and mahogany? A different look for each at the start and they all age nicely.
Cypress when being milled even though dried can emit an odor that some may not appreciate.
