I inherited my dad’s old Delta table saw. I took it apart and cleaned it up; looked as good as new. However, I had trouble getting the OEM rip fence to stay parallel to the blade. So, I bought a new Biesemeyer fence to upgrade. During the installation I discover that I can’t attach the back rail for various reasons. I don’t want to get rid of my dad’s saw for sentimental reasons, but I’m going to have to get a new saw if I want to do any quality woodworking.
My question: can I purchase just the Delta contractor’s saw without the upgraded or Biesemeyer fence? I don’t want to end up with two Biesemeyer fences.
Thanks.

Hi Paul - Two options came to mind:
1)the Biese homeshop version rides on a foot on the rear rail...the commercial version does not ride on the rear rail at all. It should be possible to set up the Biese so that it rides on the front rail and the nylon pads under the middle of the fence tube. (you may need to do something at the rear for wing support...)
2)buy a used saw with no fence or a fence that's a candidate for replacement. (used fences on Ebay seem to sell well, so you might recoup some money)
good luck and keep us posted!
Thanks.
I use a contractor's saw with bies style fence. I added an outfeed table to the saw. As mentioned above, I had to take the "foot" off the fence because the outfeed table butts up to the back of my saw. I still use the back rail to support my extension table (I have the long rails).
To make a long story short, you should be able to use the fence without the back rail. If you build an extension table, put legs on the back for support.
