I bought a power feeder after reading the comments on this forum. The general consensus was not to Cheap out and get a good one right off. $1300 was a number that stuck in my head. I went to house of tools and ordered on-line without really reading. All I saw was the biggest and the best- so I bought it for $1000. It arrived today. It is Half the size of my table saw! It is enormous. 168 lbs shipping weight. 1hp motor.
I will make use of it, but this is a good case for understanding what you are reading.
HA!

A power feeder like thak can do a lot of damage to your fence.
M. Stehlin ,
Heck , that's only about $6.00 a pound , Mine is an older Holzer and it must be that heavy as well , I've only had to lift and move it a few times . I only use the power feed on one shaper . It is a wise investment for you , that takes the pushing and pulling largely out of the picture , while producing chatter free nicer moldings than I can do by hand feed . On narrow stock like molding strips I usually lightly wax the table .
happy stock feeding dusty
You can also buy an additional base for attaching to various machines. It does make it alot quicker, but a holzer is not light, either
My God,
160 pounds! You will need two people to set it up. Ha HA. Id like to have a power feeder as well, now I think Ill wait a while.
Of course I suppose that I already have a 200 pound power feeder. His name is Rodolfo. He even sweeps the floor at the end of the day. :-)

I have the "small" Delta 1/4HP 36-850 and it weighs ONLY 70#.
Gotta plan your work out just right, since your back is worth a lot more than the feeder and you don't want to be mounting/ummounting these things too often during the day.
