Hi,
I have come across some beautiful air dried pine that has been infested with powderpost beatles. The boards were stickered and stacked. They (the bugs) seem to have been in the boards on top. I went through the various stacks and selected boards that had some signs on the edges of the wood. I have them in my shop and was planning on cutting the edges off and using them. I have two questions. With the wood in my shop could they infest my shop? If I see no holes am I safe to use the wood? The wood is rough but has been planed on 2 sides although I will still be running it through my planer to get it thinner. I would like to use them for walls in a summer place I am building. I do have a friend who is an exterminator that I can use the sodium based mixture (very safe) they use on houses in my area (MD Lower Eastern Shore) but I really did not want to get into doing that. I have read Mr. Parkers article from the archives. Thanks for any help.

Hi ES,
The topic of powderpost beetles comes up often in Knots. Have you seen some of these posts? Are these of some help?
