when you are posting pictures you press the attach files button at the bottom of the text area, then press browse to find your pictures then press UPLOAD , wait until it shows it's done then press DONE

Where is the attach files button?
Tinkerer, the Attach Files button is at the bottom, below the "composition box" that you type your post in. I think you have to be in Advanced View for it to show up. It's an orange button, in the row there.
"Where's Advanced View?" When you're at the regular page for Knots (Thread Titles on left, posts on the right), at the bottom of the right-hand side, there will be an option to change to Basic or to Advanced View. Stick with Advanced, it's the only way to go!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thanks for both of those items FG, I might have been able to look those items up but your post surely did help. What is so frustrating is that I've been shown how to do it and have even posted pictures before. On each post I write, I spell check so have to see the word "attach" but still don't remember it. Partly age related, I guess, but it is still fun.
"Partly age related, I guess, but it is still fun." I can relate! Sad to report that I now need to use a bookmark when closing up a book for the night. There are other example, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
forestgirl--
I hear you on the age-related!
You seem to be the Knots computer guru...I've got the attaching photos part, but how do I reduce the size of the image I send?
kreuzie
What photo editing program are you using? (Oh, BTW, I'm not a computer guru by any stretch, but have a few spots of knowledge scattered about). Anyhoo, in many/most programs, you go to the menu bar and select Image, go down the options to Resize, and then put in the size you want. I generally set the width to 400 pixels (plus or minus 50), and let the program adjust the height proportionally.
I always do a Save as at that point, and give the photo a different name from the original, just in case I made a mistake, or might want the original for some other purpose. Important: save it as a .jpg -- not as a .bmp or other options. This is a compressed form, keeps the size down. If the program asks what quality you want, select medium.
Prior to resizing, it's a good idea to crop out unwanted stuff around the edges. To do this you Select (draw a rectangle around) the area of the photo that's your subject, and then Crop to selection. Select should be in your toolbar somewhere. Crop to selection is usually under Image.

Hello , since we are on the ( how to ) subject , if you bookmark a page where does it save it too . I have saved to my favorites before but cannot find the place where the bookmark pages are . I also did not wish to hijack the op but looked like you were answering questions . Thanks Gary
Dove, sounds like you are using Internet Explorer?? What steps are you using to save a favorite? Knots is tricky, because you can't just go up to "Favorites" and select Add to Favorites, like you do with most web pages. Knots is in frames, so you do it this way:
Right click the number of the post you want to save (for instance, this one you're reading is 44317.11).
From the list that appears, select Add to Favorites
Give the post a title, otherwise it will just have a number
Then click Add
Do you know about making folders in your Favorites? I have a Woodworking folder that has a zillion sub-folders, keeps everything pretty well organized and easier to find things. Then, when you want to find a saved fave, you go up to the top of the browser, click on Favorites, and there are all of your faves, in folders if you've made some.
Is that clear as mud? Same basic thing works in Firefox, near as I can tell.

Hello , you are right this is tricky , my method of saving a favorite is pretty easy , on a video or things like that it actually has a ( do you want to save this to your favorites ) icon then you do it . But , as far as saving a thread in knots it seems to be different . We are using firefox . I go to the options icon at the bottom of the thread and have been bookmarking the ones I wanted , but , have not found where they are saved ??? At first I went to my favorites but they are not there . It gets confusing from there . I know unless your actually there to see it is hard to understand ( at least for me ) thanks for replying , Gary
Uhhhhh, hmmmmmm. When I open Knots in Firefox, and hover over the Options at the bottom of a post, I don't get an option to bookmark. I do get an option to "Add to friends" which is a whole 'nuther thing.
Instead of using the Options thing, go up to the post number (e.g., 44317.15) and right-click that, then save to favorites. The box that opens will tell you where it's being saved.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG,
Is there a way to do favorites in your hard drive or CD? I always end up with a 1Kb internet shortcut, and the web is accessed when I call one up.
I am of course missing the big pic, not the first or last time!
Thanks!
Pete
You're asking, essentially, about saving a page "offline" so you can view it without being connected to the internet. In older versions of Internet Explorer, there was a way to do this in Favorites. I'm not seeing it in the newest version, but you can Save the web page as a file. Here's the "Help" passage for that (I print them out and put them in a notebook -- old-fashioned) I imagine Firefox is similar:
Save a webpage as a file
If you want to save the webpage you're viewing as a file on your computer, you can do so.
To save a webpage as a file
Click to open Internet Explorer.
Go to the webpage you want to save.
Click the Page button, and then click Save As.
Navigate to the folder where you want to save the webpage. By default, webpages are saved in the Documents folder.
Type a new name in the File name box if you want to change the name.
In the Save as type box, do one of the following:
To save all the files associated with the page, including graphics, frames, and style sheets in their original format, select Webpage, complete.
To save all information as a single file, select Web Archive, single file (*.mht).
To save just the current HTML page, without graphics, sounds, or other files, select Webpage, HTML only.
To save just the text from the current webpage, select Text File.
Click Save.

FG,
Thank you!!
I have been able to get the "save as" to work, and am starting a series of folders.

Of all the issues regarding posting pics, resizing, etc. I've sometimes wondered why someone hasn't complained/mentioned anything about the Continue button
What else are ye gonna do?
Regards,
Bob @ Kidderville Acres
P.S. I edited this several times and the Continue button will not Copy/Paste into a Reply??????????????????????
