Post about getting Bosch 1619EVS router
I posted someplace in here asking opinions about the BOSCH 1619EVS router.
Well, mine arrived early this morning. It arrived from Amazon by UPS? The extras I ordered will be shipped later..? OK.. I guess. Not an issue for me at the moment.
Box arrived in a bit of what looked liked a 2000 pound bomb hit to container at about a 1/2 mile off target… I took it anyway.
I have stated many times I do not ‘need’ a 3+ HP router.. BIG MISTAKE. It purrs like a kitten and roars like a Lion!
The 1/4 inch collet was missing. I called BOSCH expecting some sort of run-around but I was greeted ‘as a wanted customer’. Gee.. I even got to a speaking person in about three button pushes on the phone! I said it was missing and was all prepared with my long, well thought, speech about getting one.
I started out stating that my router just arrived from Amazon and was missing the 1/4 inch collet I hardly will ever use. The guy just asked for my shipping address! Amazing…
It IS a BIG router, OK bigger than my others.., But very easy to handle.. Much more quiet than my Ryobi’s and PC’s. OK, so the bit used makes a BIG difference and not really related to the sounds of the router.
I am NOT knocking my Ryobi’s or PC’s. They have served me well and then some!
I for some reason never thought a BIG router would be so easy to use.
From what I see right now the plunge will be MUCH more accurate that what I have now. However, I have not received my set of templet guides so just a guess at this moment. I would say, just from ‘feel’, the Bosh has less play than the Festool plunge router. I was just window shopping the Festool at the time so maybe not. I really can feel, in my opinion, the plunge was great in each but it seemed better in my new BOSCH. Maybe I was just happy it arrived so soon?
Who knows unless I purchase each one. Not in MY lifetime!
My life is short these days and I may even get a Carvewright to piss away some money..

Congrats on the new router. I have an old bosch and I love it. Its a little tired but has lots of power. I know what you mean on the 3 HP. They sure are nice. Maybe more power than you need sometimes but so smooth. If you do get a wood carver let us know how it works. Its the next best thing to trying a tool, hearing from another tool nut whats good about it and what may not be so good. Later...
The plunge accuracy on the Bosch is legendary. They used to advertise plunging down and taking just the ink off of a business card.

The plunge accuracy on the Bosch is legendary. I never heard that one but maybe when I get my inserts I can comment.
