I’m just a general DIY but I’m planning on taking on additional projects that may need a little more precision, so I’m thinking of getting a portable table saw. One issue is money, the other is space. I’m wondering if some of you experienced folks out there have experience with these saws and if they’re worth buying, or if I’m better off saving up for a contractor’s saw. Thanks for the advice!

I've used bench tops for portability, and I've also used the Rigid that is on a foldable stand and is portable. I liked the way the Rigid perfomed for me, having to take it to job site to job site, and still have something fairly sturdy. But I also have a Craftsman contractors saw in the garage with a cast iron top. I wouldn't trade that for the Rigid. The contractors saw was temporary until I could get a cabinet saw, which I know have, but not using yet.
The price difference between the contractors saw and a good portable table saw is minimal. So if you just need portablity in the garage buy a mobile base, but if it needs to go into a vehicle then thats a different story.
From my little experience the bench tops just weren't accurate enough for trim work. They worked for general ripping but thats about it.
Portability is not as much of a concern as space, and I want something that's accurate. Thanks for the input.
All the hardwood floor guys I know buy the makita 10", it cuts very well and I think it's only $300. I don't know about the accuracy, you might want to check amazon's tool crib reviews. The floor guys never use the fence, the do scribes and longer scribe rips so they never use the fence. The like the saw for the power and portability, its very light.
Here's the link, its $250 now after the rebate. Its 40lbs.
