Would anyone have a reliable source for pool table slate other than Best Billiards in Utah? Doing a search on the web for this does not produce any usable results for suppliers. I am doing a table and need to purchase the slate from a source hopefully other than a pool table retailer.
Thanks for your help.

I'd try a monumental mason -- someone who makes gravestones, etc. They may have it, or a feasible substitute for it.

I did a google search and got http://www.bestbilliards.com as the only one that sells slate on the net. There are very few sellers of this stuff around. What's the issue with them? Are you concerned about the cost of shipping or is it the difficulty of dealing with someone across the country? I've been told they have excellent customer service, FWIW.
You should be able to specify thickness and dimensions, whether or not you want it banded in particle board or solid hardwood. Go for the solid it's better in the long run. You might also want to check out http://www.pooltableplans.com to see if they have a source, as well.
Hope this helps.
