Hafta get my pattterns for these large adirondack chair parts onto the 1x stock so I can cut them out- Is there (there must be?) an “normal” manner to do this that misses the mess the situation so obviously calls for- Anyone know how you do that? Thanks!

Yogi,
What I use for chair patterns is something thin, but fairly durable. Masonite, or cheap 1/4" plywood or paneling. Transfer from full size drawing to the pattern stock via old fashioned carbon paper, cut out, and fair the curves with spokeshave, rasp, and/or sandpaper. Notches in the edges locate mortises, drill small holes (pencil point sized) to locate centers of holes for round tenons or for screws.

Ray Pine
If you have a full-size paper pattern for each piece of wood, you can just glue each pattern to the wood. Use spray-on photo adhesive. It peels off fairly easily. If you only have one pattern for each shape, a photocopier can make more. You may need to tile copied sheets together to make a large pattern.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback- Much obliged-
Yogi
