Panga-Panga with some open grain.
Making some canopy beds for my darling China Dolls..
Some parts of the Panga-Panga have a bit of open grain. I would not usually bother to hide it.. BUT that Panga-Panga edge is like a RAZOR. Or maybe a Japanese Ceramic knife! REALLY sharp edges! Yes I can use my routers to ‘soften’ the edges but I have been cut by rubbing the surface of the wood with a finger
Sort of like a food mandolin!
Will Rotten Stone be transparent as a filler with shellac?
Replies
Try "breaking" the edges with a piece of used fine grit sandpaper.
WG, Use pumice instead of rottenstone. Sprinkle the pumice on the surface and then pad the shellac on in a circular motion. After it is filled, sand back with 320 to level the fill and then toppcoat. The pumice will be invisible. Rottenstone is made from a type of shale and will retain its grey cast.
Take good of those China dolls!

I have used one of them before as a filler but I forgot which one I used. Long ago and as I remember it worked well. Geee. I have alot of rottenstone. Story of my life. Always out of what I need.
Thanks.
