I’ll be brief–I recently painted a piece w/Valspar latex semi, and am having a real problem w/blocking–can I topcoat w/ shellac (sealcoat) and then poly, or should I try sanding (grit?) and painting with Ben Moore Impervo, something that won’t block? Maybe an oil, like Old Village. My wife wants this entertainment done and installed, and I want to go back to building Windsor chairs. Sick of this project, thanks for the help. I use milk paint on the chairs, about as easy as it gets.

Why do these type of projects always seem to turn out to be a pain?
I would give it a little rubbing with a maroon scotch pad , clean it and then re paint with with Ben Moore acrylic. That will not block the way a latex does and is also water based.
This way you'll keep it simple.
Hope it all works out well and you can get back to your chairs. I like working with milk paint too. You can get all sorts of creative looks with it.
