Has anyone ever ordered a Lie-Nielsen plane from the folks at Fine Tool Journal? I just did. Just wondering how long it takes to ship out.
TIA.
Maybe someday I’ll know a little something.

Not long. I believe I had delivery in < 5 days.
I see you're in SE PA. Philly area? That's where I originate from.
Anyway I'm in MA, and I am a little spoiled by the shipping speed from Lie-Nielsen. I ordered some chisels on Tuesday and got them yesterday. Was kind of hoping it would be the same :-)
Thanks for the reply.

I've taken advantage of their 10% off normal pricing in the past. Their shipping is not quite as fast, but you should get it within a week. I live in the midwest, and I've gotten shipments usually within 5 to 7 days.
You could foregoe the wait by forgoeing the discount! <g>
Good luck!

Ha ha...yeah, I thought of that! I got an email from them a little earlier; they're shipping it today and I will likely get it tomorrow. The benefits of living in a small region!
New England isn't like the midwest...I could probably have a cup of coffee in all 6 states in one day if I planned the drive correctly. It's not uncommon for friends of mine (who have never lived anywhere else) to balk at driving half an hour someplace because it's "too far".

That's funny. My post office is a half hour away!!
Enjoy your purchase. LN makes some the best tools I've ever owned.

JJV,

That's pretty funny...it takes me about 45 minutes to get to work, and car is moving most of that time. ;-)

You know, the whole "too far" thing really surprised me because (in eastern MA at least) it takes at least 45 minutes to get anywhere at rush hour.
I drove to Springfield MA (an hour from my house) in January to go to the Woodworks show. I invited a friend of mine and he was like "You're driving all the way out there???" I just don't get it. Maybe because I'm not from here originally.

Shipping times depend as much on where the shipper is relative to the shipping company as much as anything else. I can order antique car parts from an outfit in eastern Ohio in the early afternoon, and FedEx has them on my front porch in southeast Michigan by early afternoon the next day.
An order to Lee Valley shipped by Fed Ex takes at least two days, frequently three.
A trip to the six states of New England shouldn't take a whole day. Start in the southwest corner of Maine, across southern New Hampshire, across the Conneticut River into Vermont, down the interstate through Massachusetts to Conneticut, then east to Rhode Island.
That makes the whole area about the same size as the city of Brisbane, whose population would probably fit in one Boston city block.
Dave
I know what you mean, but I was thinking serious road trip, not touching the corners ;-) It's amazing how the area is so small yet each state has a clearly identifiable personality.

I had my LN block planes in 3 days from order (Maine to New Jersey).
If you get your order in during the morning, FTJ usually will have it shipped that afternoon. I'm in Northern VT and have usually received my order from them in 1-2 days if the item was in stock. Getting the discounted price from them is great, plus LN apparently will take care of any quality issues with the items. I just wish that they discounted the (mortise) chisels and plane floats.

Clarence and company are good people to deal with! Have purchased a number of LN tools there, and if in stock, delivery is usually less than a week. I have purchased used (antique!!!) tools there and description is excellent with same delivery. I subscribe to "Fine Tool Journal" and thoroughly enjoy it--only wish it came out more than quarterly! Finally, I have been to the Harrisburg shows and auctions and will be there at the end of this March.
I should say that the plane arrived the next day (Friday). Kudos to Clarence and crew!
Maybe someday I'll know a little something.
