I’m waiting for an antique latch to arrive that I got off E-bay to finish my country hutch. It’s a windsor style latch. The problem is it does not have the screws. Is there any place that might have some old screws or any ideas on making new screws look old?

Those old screws often had an unusual (today) dome-ey shape them. I might have some origiinals, if you let me know what size you'll need (after the latch arrives).
Thanks I'll do that. The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' - Renaldus Magnus

You can take zinc plated steel screws(aren't they all) and soak them in a cup of white vinegar overnight. Take them out and let them air dry.
Oooooooooooooooooo. Nice trick!John
WOW thanks Floss that did the trick! I took a couple screws put them in some white vinegar last night and the catch came today and they are a perfect match now. Thanks for the trick. Good deal.Happy to help.F.
Why worry. Nobody looks at the screws except me!
BONES, try the Lee Valley hardware catalog-on line even- as they have a bunch of old black stuff for their Victorian case and door hardware. Paddy
Bones,
Got any neighbors who are elderly? If so, go and ask one of them if they have any screws they've saved. Chances are good you'll find a guy (or a woman) with at least one coffee can filled with screws of all sorts. The ones you seek are probably in there somewhere.
My dad grew up in the Depression era and there wasn't a single thing he threw out - or so it seemed when we were clearing out his place during a move to a retirement home.
He had those coffee cans full of screws. Now, strangely, I do too...

Bones,
Try these people. I bought vintage screws for vintage hinges and they were great.
