I was watching a Sherlock Holmes segment on Masterpiece Theater last night, and in one of the period homes, there stood an octagonal drop-leaf table. I’ve never seen one of these, in nearly a decade of buying and selling vintage furniture. Anyone else seen one? Seems like a good space-saving design.

Jaime, the shop I was involved with made two octagon drop leave tables about 30 years ago. They were for a game room in a high end beach house. As I recall they were made from mahogany or walnut. Not a particularly difficult build.
Here's one on E-bay -- probably English: http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-MINT!!-Octagonal-Georgian-walnut-drop-leaf-table_W0QQitemZ380155880987QQcmdZViewItem
