Can anybody recommend a good place to buy wood in the NYC area? Rosenzweig looks great, but they’re only open Monday thru Friday and I work during the week, so picking up or scheduling a delivery would be tough. Dykes is open on Saturdays, but very expensive and less selection. Anybody have any other ideas?? I’m looking to purchase either Cherry or Walnut (thinking 5/4) and some pine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Don't know but there is a Long Island Woodworkers Club which can probably give the information you want.

Hello
Just a little outside of Manhattan is Condon Lumber.
Great place - easy to get to from the Bronx River Pkwy -
Worth the trip -

I second Condon in White Plains. Great selection and you can pick through as much as you like. They aren't open on weekends, though. And they aren't exactly high-tech -- bring cash or a check; no credit cards.
Another option is Kellogg Hardwoods in CT. I was there for the first time recently and picked up some nice stuff. They are very accommodating and will mill to suit. They are open on Sat, but it would be a trip from NYC.
