New To Power Tools – Any advice welcome
i got into woodworking about 5 years ago when I bought an apartment, but living in a small NYC apartment, my power tools are limited to a drill, handheld jigsaw and a rented nailer I’ve rented a few times. Most of my projects have been put together with screws, nails, hammer, drill, miter box…Getting a house now and I’m buying lots of new toys. My first project is a redwood slab table. The slab is 3″ thick. Top will be is 54″ x 72″. Table base will be two 27″ x 27″ legs joined by two side rails about 6 x 42 using miter and tenon joinery akin to the photo below. The slab will be cut a bit by the lumber yard. I’ll be using a Ryobi BTS21 table saw for the cuts, Bosch 1617EVSPK 12 Amp Plunge Router for the mortise and tenons for the table base. I need a chaisnaw that I probably wont have much use for beyond this project, so I’m thinking of saving some money and using a Poulan Pro 400E 18-Inch Electric based on the reviews I’ve read to carve chairs akin to the second picture. Any advice would be appreciated.
