This is my latest project, it is an old Delta/Milwaukee unisaw. I bought it at a garage sale a year ago for a whopping $45 bucks. This year I bought and installed a Shop Fox fence. Recently while I was browsing at my local woodworking dealer, and looking at the clearance table I found the ultimate motor for my project saw. The motor is a 3hp Jet motor that was taken out of the machine. They had sold the machine to the Amish and they did not need the motor. When I asked the salesperson how much for the motor he replied $70, so I bought it. In total the table saw has only cost me around $300 to refurbish.

Good investment!
They had sold the machine to the Amish and they did not need the motor..
Sorry.. I just fell off my puter chair laughing at that one.. It was really funny..
Amish.. I am sorry BUT.. Electricity for woodworking should be OK??
So how do they power the saw? Water? Horses (2 or 3 :-)
Ok explain this to me. It's ok to buy a tablesaw that was produced with many kilowatts of electricity but it's not ok to use electricity to run the tablesaw? I'm so confused...
M.
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
FWW covered this many years ago. Apparently DC is ok, AC is not. They can run a diesel motor and from that they run hydraulic motors. Some don't even allow that.
Nice job, but it is not a Unisaw, it's the older version of the contractors saw.
The table saw was called a "Unisaw Jr" It was only in production from 1948-1951.
Really? That's cool, there must not be many out there. It must have been the forrunner of the "cabinet saw" they built latter.
