I am the proud owner of a 24″ double drum sander. I bought it used and it has dual aluminum sanding drums. I understand that it’s common to install different grit sandpaper on each roll, one coarser, one finer. But what grits are recommended?? I plan to sand cabinet doors, small tabletops, and shop cut veneers (veneers are the main reason I bought a drum sander). I’m thinking 80 grit on one, and 120 grit on the second, but I have NO experience with this machine. Any suggestions?
Thanks….Jeff

Those are the grits I run. Very good results, remember to set the second drum a hair lower than the first.

jeff, what brand of sander is it? If it is the Performax, there is an owners manual on line that explains the grit combinations.
