Hi guys, I am away from home and hope to go by the local Woodcraft store to buy some carving tools.
I need to know what carving tools (i.e. sweep and width) that Steve Latta used in making the bellflowers on his federal legs, in the article that he had in Fine Woodworking issue #182,,Jan-Feb 2006, Master Class, page 96. If someone has this issue would look up that info. and post it for me here, I would be greatly appreciative. (I have searched the FWW web site and could not find that particular article listed.)
I hope to go to the Woodcraft store this afternoon.
Thanks,
Dave Baker

I think this is the one you want. It was in issue 180.http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/ProjectsAndDesign/ProjectsAndDesignPDF.aspx?id=24965
I think that #180 was the first article Steve did of about three that covered the Federal Table.
The one that he actually told how to do the bellflowers was in #182, as per this index: http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/storeitem.html?iid=15252
According to my FWW Archive recovery skills, you are looking for: #7-20mm and a #8-7mm carving gouges.
Happy Carving
