I purchased some Brazilian redwood flooring and it came in a make-shift wood crate. The crate wood turned out to be very interesting and very dense. Easy to tool and has a wonderful grain pattern, gray sap wood and a very interesting brown heart wood, with some Spaulding in the sap wood. The grain resemble walnut but not the color.
My problem is I cannot find anyone who can identify the wood type. Anyone know of an expert or perhaps a trade source of finding out the wood type. I have samples I could send.
I would like to make several interior raised panel doors for my house and feel this has just the right color combinations.

I suggest you take a digital photo of the wood and upload it to Knots with the "Attach Files" feature. That way we can have some clues to identify.
