I am wondering if someone could possibly help me identify what type of wood was used for the wall paneling? My first guess was possibly stained plywood, but I was hoping I could get some help.

Looks like plain old pine.

It could be western red cedar. What's the surface like,slightly fuzzy or smooth? That picture is hard to read.
My guess is pine too. It could be ply, and that would make sense, but if it is ply it is not a single sheet with battens on it to create faux panels, rather it has been cut up and glued to the wall with battens between. I bet it's 1x6s. Possibly cedar as suggested by @pantalones though the look is more stained pine.
