It appears that if your subject line is the same as an old post that it doesn’t display the new post. Anyway, please disregard the earlier post. Does anyone know what kind of wood this is?

ku, I vote for poplar.
I would say Box Elder.
Second vote for poplar. The green is a dead give away...
Poplar maybe. But I could easily be convinced that it might be Box Elder.
I don't see any green but
I don't see any green but blue as a mould or disease (am I colour blind?) some poplars and cottonwood do have some orange in them

In the exotic category, it could also be Tigre Caspi. I got a batch of the stuff & it is really cool. I think it is probably poplar though.

Thanks to everyone for giving me a place to start. After viewing examples of Box Elder I am 99.9999% sure that is what it is. Not sure what to use it for,but don't think I want to waste it using it for drawer parts. The following example provides some great pictues.

If you really want to know, you can send a sample to the Department of Agriculture's Forest Product Laboratory in Madison WI. You should be able to find directions on the web site. This is a free service, though it does take a while to get results.
My first thought was Poplar or Box Elder. I have seen green/blue like that in Box Elder. I use alot of Poplar but never saw this much green/blue in one board.
My guess is that it is soft maple that has started to decay or has some type of disease. I have a board just like it in my shop. Came mixed in wit good soft maple.
