Hi Folks,
Not sure if this is the proper place for this but here goes. I am getting such great advice from all of you I need to get it organized someway other then just printing it out and filing it.
I would like to be able to move a reply from Knots into a new folder in FWW “My favorites” but can’t seem to do it.
I sent a message recently to customer service after trying to find Sysop (is that the web page guru?) but having no luck. As you may have surmised by now I am no computer whiz.
Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and to FWW…The “My Favorites” area was a great idea. Thanks very much for including it on the site. I use it often.

Brian, if you right click on the post number ie 39462.1 it will " open link in new window".
Then you right click anywhere and it will "Bookmark this page" ie add it to your favourites.
Thanks Phillip, Ya I was aware of that. I was hoping to be able to add it to a folder in the new Favorites section here in Knots. I have tried to copy and paste but it just won't work for me. Guess I'm stuck with having the 2 Knots "favorite" areas.
Thanks, Brian
I don't think they've gotten there yet, Brian. My Favorites folder in Internet Explorer has a Woodworking section, and under that probably 30 different sub-folders, and who knows how many sub-sub-folders. I find it much easier to keep stuff sorted in this structure than to use the FWW.com Favorites. That's reserved for their on-line articles, videos and such. Most important, though, has been to back up the Fave folder periodically, as occasionally my browser decides to go back to its fetal form.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thx Jamie, Good advice. I really like the FWW favorites section but I also have a zillion WW folders spread all over the place. Getting everything organized is a steep climb, Ya know?

"Getting everything organized is a steep climb, Ya know?" Yea, don't I! My woodworking folder needs a good going-over, especially the ones with Knots responses. It's the kind of activity makes me wish I had a laptop -- I could sit in front of the TV, like during the football playoffs maybe, and organize to my hearts content!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Philip, you're putting in an unnecessary step there. You can right-click and select Add to Favorites... without opening a new window.

Hi Jamie, maybe it is because Firefox is different or this computer is intransigent but I found that if I don't open a new window it sends the first message in the thread to favourites.....Strange things can happen, I have learned .Philip Marcou
philip,
I think it's because Firefox uses Tabs which equate to New Window. Also, IE can be configured to Open in New Window or Same Window. It can get confusing quite easily.

Weird! You mean it turnshttp://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=39462.7 intohttp://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=39462.1 ????
I use Firefox for an internet calendar for the horse stuff, head trainer puts all the lessons and workouts on there. I'll have to navigate to Knots with it and check it out.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Philip, I just gave Firefox a spin, and it bookmarked the same way IE does. I right-clicked 39462.3 and selected "bookmark this link". It was added as 39462.3 (not 39462.1). Maybe you're right-clicking on something else? such as the title of the thread?? That won't work, you have to RC on the number of the post you want to bookmark.
Other possibility I can think of (long-shot) is that your version is outdated and there was a bug. Kinda doubt it though.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
