I am leaning heavily towards one or the other of these manufacturers, in either the 16″ or 18″ size. But, I have a steep staircase with a sharp turn at the bottom to get the unit down into my shop. (I won’t be cutting any large sheets of plywood once it’s down there, that’s for sure!) I was hoping someone would be able to provide me with the rough dimensions of these units (height x width x length). Alternatively, if they can be disassembled to squeeze through small openings.
If not, I’ll probably have to leave it out in my detached garage (very non-ideal) or go with a 14″ Delta.

Hi Dan,
I just bought a Minimax 16 (awesome machine!)
It's about 23 wide x 30 deep and 71" tall.
If you take off the motor (2 bolts) the width goes down to 16"
Taking off the table and trunion assembly where it tilts (1 bolt) the total size drops down to 15 x 26 x 71"
The motor and table look to weigh at least 150#. That would get the machine down to less than 350# or about what the Delta weighs.
A guy could take off the cast iron wheels and probably cut another 75#.
The Minimax comes with a mobility kit that really works. I can't see you having any trouble moving it.
BTW the saw I replaced was a Delta 14". My new Minimax is 3 times the saw the Delta was.
13" resaw
3.6 horsepower
Lower guide can be moved to within an inch of the table (the others are about 4 inches)
Upper guide assembly is of a totally different design. You'd have to see both or get a blow-up pic of both tools. The one on the Minimax is more substantial.
To be honest you can't go wrong with either of the machines you're looking at.
The proof is in the puddin'
Completely nothing to do with your post, but I've always heard "The proof is in the pudding", but where did that come from? Why the heck would proof be in pudding?
Tom
Hahahahaha
Either the pudding tastes good or it doesn't.
Everything else is irrelevant and doesn't really matter. The proof is in the puddin'
Nicobie,
Thanks for the info! I figure I can wrestle it down the stairs with some of the neighbours and a case of beer!
I ordered the MM16 from Minimax USA today. It'll be 'in port' at the end of next week.
I was also considering the S45 or the Agazzani, but the MM16 seems much more robust with the 3.6 HP and the 13" resaw capacity.
I live in Vancouver BC, so we'll see how they do on the international shipping thing. I read in another post that they got it right for another guy in Canada, so fingers crossed!
No-one in Canada carries the MM16, they (Cooper & Horton and Euro-tech Services) only carry the S45.
Dan
It's worth waiting for.
Nice big tool with lots of power. :)The proof is in the puddin'
