Hey Gang,
I noticed the ad for making a cute corset top with shirred back here at the forum.
I was wondering, did any of you girls make one of these yet?
If so, what kind of wood did you use?
Uh-Oh! I thought I was on the sewing forum.

P.S. I got a GREAT deal on an Accord at Honda Taunton, and I tod the salesman I would pass that info along.

I've actually made a few. I found lacewood to work well. I got in trouble using palmwood. Even if you don't get to use it, I like to have a nice little piece of ash ready to go. Of course you can mix different species depending on the client, applewood, basswood, chestnut, pear, not much call for cherry these days. The center section is a good place to use up your waste wood. Use satinwood for formal corsets, cottonwood for everyday. If you make a girdle to go with the corset, use aspen wood. It's always better to use figured wood on these projects. Make sure you keep your hornbeam hidden away, though. It could get mistaken for pencil cedar.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
one of the best damn responses I've seen in a while, nearly busted a gut...Recommending the use of "Hide Signatures" option under "My Preferences" since 2005
Hey hammer1,
I doubt if R. Bruce Hoadley could have done much better than that!
That was insanely funny, not to mention the connections.
