I recall an article and plans for a four harness loom some time in the mid-1980’s I believe but have lost my magazines from that time. Does anyone else remeber that article and what issue it was in? In general, does anyone know where I might find plans for a walking loom? thanks, Mike

Mike,
I looked it up for you and unfortunately there's no article on making one (nor plans), but it was featured on the back cover. That was issue 39, March/April 1983. The maker was Edwards Studios in El Rito, CA and the design was by Jack Edwards.
Hope that helps.

Making Furniture Masterpieces: 30 Projects With Measured Drawings
by Franklin H. Gottshall is a great book and a paperback version is still in print. It seems like the last chapter has a loom that he made for a friend. I hope it's what you're looking for.

I have a book published in early 70's called The Loom Book. The front cover blurb says "This is a manual of basic instruction for building a loom. With the use of this book and some simple tools you can produce a competent, useful four harness, 40-inch floor loom." The author is Tim Reed. Publisher is Scribners. Copyright date is 1973. I don't know if it is still in publication, but it sounds like exactly what you're looking for.
Also look at http://www.halfwaytree.com/looms/ for links to loom-building.
