Has anyone been able to purchase this driver from Lee Valley?
I’m in need of a new driver and this looked like a great purchase for small jobs ( $29.95) but the local store was sold out and I phoned H.O. and the same story – – sold out – – how disappointing.
Yes, I know that stated quantities are limited.

They had them briefly at my local LV store, but I didn't buy one because I already had the Triton at an even better price -- free with their router. It's been very useful for driving screws etc. and holds a charge, but like the LV it doesn't have a replaceable battery, so it's basically a throwaway. Places like Canadian Tire have similar tools at reasonable prices. I've had a 6 volter for occasional home use for a couple of years with no problems -- it has a chuck and does an acceptable job drilling holes, for less than $20.

What am I missing? According to the write-up at Woodcraft online the Triton 3.6 volt driver "Includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery...".Chuck
Chuck,Rechargeable, not replaceable. The battery is hard wired like they were in the days of past.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com(soon to be http://www.flairwoodworks.com)

Da! I'll go have another cup of coffee. Thanks.Chuck
I bought one of the little guys on the 27th of January from their website and picked it up a few days later on the weekend at the Coquitlam store. If you want to catch those limited quantity deals you need to look at the site often and click on the "What's New" button. The email notices and fliers come out later. I just checked and they have emergency lights for sale now that wasn't there yesterday. When they sell out it will be dropped from the list like it was never there.;) http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=62541cat=51&ap=1 (for Canadians)http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=62541cat=51&ap=1 (for Americans)
Thanks QC for that info. LV often have good deals on clearance items.
All gone. Sold out. I didn't even see the email until yesterday, boo hoo.
Does it have to be a L-V driver?
I have two of these - a Skil and a B&D. Both were in the $30 range at Home Depot, and I've seen a somewhat larger Ryobi version in the same price range.
At these prices, the drivers are almost disposable, so the brand name really doesn't matter to me.
Thanks Dave; I'll check them out. I have need for a small driver - - just that LV was close by and HD is not
I have the 3.6v Bosch. It is really just for use around the house. It lacks the torque for serious driving. It does hold a charge for a long time, and is comfortable in the hand. Not a serious tool.

You're gonna love it when you get one. I bought my first one when I was building a computer desk and needed a small driver to install drawer glides in a tight space. I figured that I would use it once or twice and toss it in a drawer or give it away.Instead, it became a "go-to" tool for almost all of my driver needs with small screws, bolts, etc. You'll never run deck screws with it, but it just can't be beat for small stuff.I got the second one last year when I was delivering a cabinet and realized that I had left the first one in the shop. I was a bit late getting to the customers house, but the detour to HD was essential. Like the credit card company says, "Don't leave home without it". - lol
