Hello, I’m am trying to find a source for library ladder hardware , JUST the locking wheels and track hardware. Most companies want to include high end cherry/oak ladders etc. and not only does that increase the cost of the package(they start at aroung a thousand dollars US) but it makes for a bit of a shipping issue. I live in Northern Canada and would prefer a Canadian distributor(a cheaper dollar…no patriatism issue here) but would be interested in any hardware supplier anyone might know of.I checked out two bigger outfits Putnam out of NYC and Alaco from Chino Calif.again they want to sell me the ladder as well, I can easily build what I need to suit the application. Thanks to all, Larry

I looked for that hardware, and didn't find it. I did find several (US) ladder companies pointedly saying that they could not sell hardware separately because of liability issues. Maybe you can do better in Canada.
Here's a link to a ladder company that at least shows some photos of home-brew ladders: http://www.mainething.com/chase&ekholm/
Thanks for the info Jamie..I'm getting the impression that I may be building this library ladder myself. I have a few good ideas and the site you sent me to has helped to fill in some more of the blanks.I'll send you along the finished photos when I'm done if you'd like. Thanks again, Larry Sivell
LSI,
I built one a few years back with just flat bar hooks over a pipe rail mounted on the bookcase and felt on the bottom of the ladder stringers. Hey, it was cheap and looks great. I'll post a pic.

I think Rockler Hardware used to have this in their catalog (very $$$) - try http://www.rocklerpro.com.
