I'd say the PLS 2 is the class of the field right now for interior lasers.

More a question for the folks at breaktime as I'm sure it's been covered in the mag. Journal of Light Construction and
Tools of the Trade are must subscriptions to field work. They have sites on line.
I concur with Nikki. http://www.plslaser.com/
I deal with http://www.drivekore.com/ as they sell and service the lasers. I assume price point is an issue. There are more expensive and more accurate lasers out there but Pacific lasers will do the job.
I,m looking at a Topcon from Michigan Laser. Its about $2400.00.Thanks for the breaktime suggestion.Rick
$2400.00!!! Damn.. I could hire a surveyor for that!Sorry.. I just HAD TO...
The next house I will be doing is about 10 million and it will be used through out the job.I need something with a small dot and that is exact.
Hilti makes a great 5 point laser. The part number escapes me (PM24 rings a bell...)
Shoots the dot dead level, dead plumb (up and down), and 90deg right and left.
Runs about $800 plus a decent tripod.
Stanley actually has a decent model as well, that does the same thing.- I've been looking at them at The Evil Empire. If you aren't going rotary, this kind is the most versatile. Forget the ones that defract to generate "lines" you want accurate points.
The older I get, the better I was....
Thanks for the hilti info .I wonder who makes it for them.
Sorry.. I was just funnin' you..Hope you can find what you want...
Always put a budget figure in with a question. Most folks are looking for the cheap way out it seems.

I'm curious what you get for that kind of money..............********************************************************

Having been a surveyor for 30+ years, I've seen many types of leveling devices. I regularly use a small Stanley for cab work, but for hair splitting accuracy, I use an automatic level and rod. You can pick up a good used level, tripod, and rod for about $500. You can usually find these for sale at any surveying equipment dealer. You can shoot up to 250' inside or outside with these, and get 1st order accuracy. They also rent them for small change. Trouble with lasers is that you can't be sure if their "on" or not. 'Course you'll need an assistant.
