Got the final piece to the lumber storage puzzle finished this week. Our small-town hardware store gave up the ghost last month, and I bought their ladder display rack. The bottom is thin sheet metal, so I screwed it to a piece of 3/4″ plywood, lined the back half of the topside with drawer liner to provided a non-skid surface and mounted 2 fixed and one rotating caster to the bottom.
Some efficiency improvement still to be made, but this rack will hold cutoffs and soon-to-be-used stock, and complement the wall rack (for long-term storage) and sheet-stock cart in the picture below. Now I can relocate that short stuff that’s cluttering up the wall rack. Definitely not for a big shop, but they do the job for me! The wall rack comprises 2×4’s on edge with galvanized pipe inserted at a 5* angle, adjustable by slipping into different holes if needed. Sheetgoods cart was bought at an estate auction for $5 (or was it $15?). [sorry, these are little bigger than usual, I’m getting lazy!]

Hmmmm, I knew I musta done something wrong. Nobody cares, sniff, sniff.
I just grabbed the containers laying around in the shop. Will get it spiffed up next week, set up tubes for the dowels, clear the short stuff off the wall rack. I love being able to find a piece of wood when I need it!
Cut my first walnut yesterday. First time I've ever felt the ol' Jet saw was borderline vis a vis power. Poor baby. The new dust collector sure works great though.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)

I just throw the stuff on the floor and sort of remembers where I tripped over it!
