Hi guy’s and Gal’s,
I’m reading and hearing from many having issues with the new Kapex. Apparently the miter turn table is seizing up, fences are not square to the table, inconsistent bearings on the slide (some smooth some not), casting issues in the base (lines and raised ridges on the left side of turn table, and turn table not level and flush with fixed ends of base.
I know better than to buy a new model car on it’s first year, but hasn’t the Kapex been out for over 2 years in Europe?
Too bad, I own lot’s of Festool products but stayed clear from the Kapex based on $$$$. I could justify all my other Festool investments but not the Kapex, now I am sure my decision was correct as I know 3 people personally that have returned their Kapex saws because they were faulty.
Hope they address this.

I had the chance to use one at a Rockler store the other day. I did not care for the handle at all. It is curved in a way that my hand slides off the top and down the back. When completing the cut it ends in and akward position. The handle also had a large seam down the center and was really, well plastic feeling. Not near as nice as my Makita handle. The bearings were noisy, real rolling sounds as you pulled it in and out. I was not impressed and also wondered what the fuss was. My circular saw 55 model is such a great tool, makes me wonder what they are up to.

Agree.
At best they should have done a rubbery coating on the handle like many of their other tools.
When companies get too big too fast they can rarely handle the production output, then QC begins to come around and bite them. I think Festool will address this though, they have always been on top. We'll see.
