The jointer I ordered from Grizzly should get here this week. Iwant to make a rolling base for it and have it ready when it comes. Can anybody tell me the dimensions of the 8″ GO500 base?

Woodman. I just happen to have that same jointer . The exact size of the base you are going to build is a minimum of 24 3/4 inches by 16 1/2 inches on the inside of the base.. . There are two tabs that stick out on the left and right side of the base to bolt the thing down. If you build it to those dimensions, plus a little for wiggle room, it will fit.

Thanks. I will start on it in the morning. How does the jointer work for you? Is it a problem changing 4 blades? Do I need to buy some sort of jig for blade setting?
The jointer works great. It is very heavy, takes two to lift the top onto the base, or a chain hoist. It is well made, I didn't find any out of tolerance on the tables or fence. All the machine work is very good. The extensions on the end take some shims to make them line up with the tables, but not a big deal to accomplish.
I am very pleased with it and am totally satisfied with my purchase. I have not had to take the blades out yet, but it should be no problem at all to remove and replace them. They send a blade setting tool with the machine, which makes it very easy to set the blades at the perfect height.. I have the same tool with my 20" Grizzly planer, and it is a snap to get the blades set. I just sharpened the 20" blades and replaced them in the machine in an hour, and I take my time. I am sure you will be happy with yours.
Enjoy Jack
I will let you know how it goes.
