For a countertop detail in my kitchen, I need to join two pieces of 1.5″ lyptus butcherblock on edge. The second piece is very small — 7″x11″, joined on the long edge — and they’ll be well-supported and screwed from below. Can I get away with just gluing it, or should I use biscuits or something similar? Would Titebond II be good?

What about gorilla glue, it is water proof and very strong. The only bad thing is it expands as it dries.
So the proposed glue face is 1.5"x11", and is face grain (not end grain), and there's no finish on the face? If so, Titebond II will be fine. Biscuits wouldn't make the joint stronger. They'd only help align the pieces as you glue them, but with pieces this small you aren't going to have a wrassle anyhow.
In my experience, polyurethane glue does not make as strong a bond as PVA.
