Hi, I ran across an older 6 inch Mark 1 joiner, anyone know anything about it?

Shell ,
A Joiner refers to a person a Jointer is the machine you are talking about .
Until the invention of biscuit joints I would have agreed with you. Now, "plate joiner" outnumbers "plate jointer" on Google by more than 10 to 1, and "biscuit joiner" is more popular than "biscuit jointer" by almost 2 to 1.
For the machine Shell is asking about, you're quite right, it's a jointer.
Uncle Dunc ,
I was referring to the origin of the word. Overseas a Joiner is a furniture cabinetmaker type of person. Sorry for the confusion.
