After seeing the prices for pre-made cupolas, I think I might make mine myself. Does anyone have a way to build an easy to make jig for doing louvers? I’m guessing I could make them in much the same way that you woluld for shutters. any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I seem to remember Norm making something years ago.
Norm Abrams did that on a New Yankee Workshop show a few years ago. I would bet that the plans and "measured drawings" are available thru their website.

Did you have any luck finding the Woodsmith article that I sent you on a louver jig?
Thanks; I just got your email. I'm going to see if the local library has a back issue.
I bought a cupola plan online. They just show cutting angled dadoes all the way through and rounding the louvers. Not as elegant, but from a distnace, it probably doesn't matter
The New Yankee episode dealt with Plantation shutters with operable louvers. His jigs spotted the staples for the individual louvers, the control rod and the connection of the two.For a rooftop application, the louvers are fixed; making your project's construction much easier. If you are planning on 20 louvers per elevation, that's 160 slots to mill at the router table. An option would be to cut parallelogram shaped spacers instead. You still need 160 pieces, but this way may be easier.

Norm had an episode on jigs where he made a jig for cutting the angled mortises for shutters. See it here: http://www.newyankee.com/getproduct.php?0101 . It is in part two. I have this plan and video.
