   Reduced Festool ????????????

   Not very likely.    Festool dealers are required by Contract to sell the products at Festools listed prices.  Some dealers will except gift cards,  If you receive a gift card from a dealer as a result of a certian $$$$$ amount spent on other items, that card can be applied to a Festool product.

   Festool does have a very limited sale on returned/refurbished items but it is very rare.

   If you work for a  Festool dealer you can get an associate discount through Festool and it will be shipped directly to you.

   Then there is always Craigs List,   and then it will probably be a stolen item.   Nobody sells their Festools ;-)

   No Regulation Against Price Fixing?

   I thought there was a Supreme Court decision barring such "Fair Trade" practices some years ago.  Has it been changed?  American producers (Rather American producers manufacturing in China--Practically all of them) seem to have no such practices.  Does this crazy government allow foreign companies to sell here in contravention of rules governing our own corporations?

   Festool policy

   I personally have NO PROBLEM with Festools policy.    Festool dealers have to follow a strict guideline and meet Festool standards.   Festool is a class act Company and produce class tools.   Having worked for a Festool dealer I liked the policy.

   All dealers sell at the same price,  this puts everybody on the same playing field, from ma&pa stores to the monster mail order catalogs.      We bent over backwards with service and  training when needed.

   I applaud Festool for setting prices.    Look at what the BORGS have done to the small ACE and TRUE VALUE Hardeware stores,  they buy in bulk and slice the throats of the friendly family local stores.

   It sure is nice to pick up a Festool catalog and know that it is good anywhere and the price will be good for six months to a year.

   Ever hear  of MAP prices  (minimum advertised price)  Many manufacturers make retailers use MAP prices.  I won't say what Companies I was involved with,  but they were major power tool Companies.  Don't believe me, Go to Amazon and look for the Items that don't have a price listed.  MAP!

   My experience with Festool is that their customer service is excellent.  They have a Festool Owners Group website where you can find people with the same products that have experience using these products and in the rare instance of problems they have open honest discussions about the issues.  My personel experience is that Festool covered an issue with my Domino Joiner after the 3 year warranty free of charge and refurbished my joiner with a 1 day turnaround!  With over 35 years of woodworking, festool has some of the most inovative and quality tools on the market that are well worth their price.

   fair trade

   Although the former Fair Trade Act was repealed by Congress in 1975, I believe the Leegin case in 2007 re-established the right of a manufacturer to set minimum prices for their products. It would still be illegal for multiple manufacturers of similar products to fix prices across the market.

   If you're comfortable with eBay there is a used one for $299 and a new one for $410.  These listings change frequently.

   No Festool discounts

   As Bruce mentioned, Festool products are "fair traded" - i.e. sold only at prices established by Festool.

   They do occasionally run bundle deals, where you buy the saw with a Festool vac at a somewhat-reduced price.

   But it is true about Festools package deals.     Usually a Vac / tool  combo.
