iPad version of Fine Woodworking magazine online: Wow
I just discovered how easy it is to read Fine Woodworking magazine on my iPad. Wow. I’ve been missing out all year since I subscribed. I never get around to reading the magazine on my desktop, but it’s perfect on the iPad, because I use it to read in the shop, on the couch or at the coffee shop. Perfect. I like it far better than the paper versions that have filled up the bookshelf in my shop over the years. Thanks guys.

I'll bite
How do you get it ? Is it an app then the pad shows the iPad specific version of the mag, like The Daily or Project or just go to the online web site as if using a desk top ? Which can be limited because of videos or scooting around on such a small screen.
I am on the Air right now but would like to take the FWW on line mag to work on my iPad without having to go on line since we are not allowed to use the internet at work. Hence the advantage of the two apps mentioned above.
Finding the iPad version
Although I had paid to read FWW magazine online rather than receive the paper copy I had been getting, it took me a few months to take the time to figure out how to do that. When I landed on the members' page where I could click to read the current issue, I found a button offering an option to read it on an iPad. So I got out the iPad, went to that page and clicked on that button. The website served up the magazine formatted for the iPad.
https://www.finewoodworking.com/member and clicked on "New - Digital Issues, Online Members read te latest issue online", which took me to https://www.finewoodworking.com/subscription/digital-issues/ where there is a blue button that says "Read this publication (iPad, iPhone, iPod, Safari)".
Finally I'll be able to relax and read through the treasure trove of recent FWW magazines away from my desk.
Not sure if it downloads so I can read it offline -- my shop is within our home wifi network.
If only they had an iPad app to get there directly.
App button for home screen
Totekit,
Hey thanks !
>iPad app to get there directly<
Maybe I can help there or maybe you already know this but :
While using your iPad when you are in Safari or your web browser and are on the FWW home page, or what ever you want to make an app button for, look along the top for the symbol that is a rectangle with an arrow shooting out of it.
Click on that to get a pull down and then click on " Add to Home Screen " and that will make a button on the home screen just like all the other app buttons.
From there you can name it or move it to another page of the home screen app buttons.
Then when you tap it it will open your web browser and take you directly to the page you were on when you selected " Add to Home Screen "
Thanks for that tip -- I had only ever just added bookmarks.
Problem: tried to read the current issue today and the text is unreadable. Pixelated on my iPad.
