Hello: Invicta makes a 8” jointer for about the same price as a DJ20, does anyone have any knowledge of this machine. Looks good on the screen, haven’t heard or read any negatives on the company. Duke

The 3A motor seems a little suspect. I would expect that to translate to about a 1/2 HP motor at 240V. Delta advertises their motor at 1.5 HP. I don't have a feel for how accurate that figure really is though.

I don't know the specifics of the relationship between Invicta/Rockwell/Delta. The old Rockwell line of industrial table saws, jointers and planers was identical to Invicta, I believe Invicta built the equipment for Rockwell. Rockwell is now Delta. I'm betting there is still some type of relationship, the jointers are pretty similar and probably manufactured by the same company. There may be some interesting differences. If you look at the Delta RT-40 saw and the Invicta RT-40, the Invicta has a much more robust fence system, a riving knife with blade guard and a heavier duty miter head. The Invicta DJ-20 looks like it has a different fence, base and switch location. The Invicta reputation is for high quality, heavy duty, industrial machinery.

Invicta was set up by Delta to make their larger machines but Delta never owned Invicta.
Thanks, Rick. I had an RJ-42, a powerful beast. I wonder if Invicta is joining in on the pro-sumer level. The new RT-40 saw looks nice. Am I correct in remembering Invicta being Italian?Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Invicta is from Brazil. They still may make the larger Delta planers. Twenty years ago they were making a 14" four foot slider, a 16" jointer and some other misc machines.
I was visiting Kansas City and saw the Invicta line at Overland Park tool. They had several Invicta tools there including a jointer. They appeared very well constructed and heavy duty in all aspects. Pricing appeared to be better than the comparable Powermatic sized equipment. The only downside from what I saw was everything was 3 phase power. I do not know if they offer single phase. Lastly, everything was FOB Sanford, NC.
Want a DI-32-1 3hp single phase 12" jointer? I have one left at $1795.00 You can pick it up in San Jose, CA or have it shipped. Its heavy iron. (List is 2695.00) Nice machine too. One of the other posters got it right. Delta setup Invicta to build their large machines but does not own them. Invicta is in Brazil. The Invicta and the Delta are nearly identical. Cosmetic differences if anything. Invicta will not support Delta Products and Delta will not support Invicta products.

Steve: Thanks for the offer but I have a DJ20 which is fine for me. I'm in Berkeley so fairly close and the price you quoted was close to what I paid for my 8'' Delta but someone will want it. Brazil puts out some good machines, the engine in my and my sons Dodge Dakotas were from Brazil and Taurus pistols have a good reputation. DukeKenneth Duke Masters

I have seen some 12 inch and bigger surfacers made by Invicta in Brazil-very heavy duty superb machinery. If that baby has the same qualities it will be good, very good.
At close-to four hundred lbs it is a step in the right direction.
