The last step on this bench was to epoxy the top down. While the clamps were on I had some stir sticks on top of the bench in the sun for 4 hours. The bench top turned 4 shades darker in that time except where the sticks were. Any thoughts on damage control? How deep does UV damage go? I couldn’t’ believe it happened so fast. Any thoughts on more exposure to even it all out? 4 hours! You can even see where my hammer was for 2 hours.

Cut out some stencils so you can irradiate just the light spots for four hours, then try exposing the whole surface for several more hours.
Belt sander. Take off the top layer and finish as you desire.Or oxalic acid works well on oak to lighten it.

It'll match pretty quick by itself, if you just leave it out in the sun. A four hour lead time isn't much, and the surface color should even out fairly quickly. The darkening reaction does go more or less to completion, so the darker the wood gets, the slower it changes, while the wood with less exposure is still darkening more rapidly.
You can hurry it along a little by blocking the sun from the darker part with a mask or stencil as suggested earlier. It will work, but to me it isn't worth the trouble.
Oxalic acid is good for reversing iron and water stains, but doesn't take much natural color out of wood. Two-part bleach is generally the product to lighten wood overall, but I don't think it's needed here.
