Installing Triton to Jessem Router Tabl
Say, I just purchased and received a 2/1/2 horse Triton router which I plan to use dedicate solely for my router table. It has the feature where you can set the height with the crank from the top of the router table.
Any hints on installing this baby ?
Can I still use the DC port if it is mounted underneath the table?
Any suggestoons are welcomed.
Thank you all.

My Jessem router table has the lift already built into it, and the router motor (I use 3 1/2 hp Porter Cable) is removed from its base, and installed directly into the lift.
If your table is different, then ask away, and perhaps a picture would help us set you in the right direction.
Either way, all you need to do is properly and safely mount your router underneath the table. I'm pretty sure that if you look at the setup, it'll be self explanatory. If not, post a pic, and I'll tell you what to do.
Be safe.

A word of caution. Triton apparently sees the above-table crank as fine adjustment, not as the primary mover of the router. If used as the primary mover, the gear strips, and the replacement takes a long time to arrive. I have the larger Triton without the above-table winder, and it works well using the below-table knob for raising-lowering. I'd set up the router so that this knob is easily accessible. I have several router tables. Complete dust collection is almost impossibe unless you have a NASA wind tunnel.
I have one in a BenchDog on my table saw.
I've not had any trouble with raising and lowering it with respect to the gear mentioned above, at least not yet.
Primary dust collection, in my case, is above the table. My success at making a good connection to the router's dust port is, ummm, wiggly at best. That is my biggest complaint with respect to the router.
Big pro, it cranks up above the table for easy bit changes. All in all, I'd buy another.
I hear you re the dust collection. Triton used to make what looked like a mini cyclone with one hose to the router and a second to the fence, but they stopped it a few years ago. I found that standard vacuum cleaner hose will fit into the router opening if you remove the hose nozzle. With a bit of luck the "threads" on the hose will screw into the corresponding threads on the router opening. Hose isn't cheap, though. I found some used stuff in a vacuum repair shop.

I'd say dust collection, in genera,l is a hit-and-miss proposition in the best case.
My router fence (Bench Dog) has a dust collection port and my router/lift has a wooden box around it with dust collection. Dust still comes out of places. No... I have not sealed off the router completely because of heat concerns. I 'hog' on tough hardwood sticks.
I have the small JET dust sucker with 4 inch hoses that 'sort' of works. I think my old Ridgid Shop Vac works better. But I am just me.
thanks for your comments. I installed the Triton last week , removed the plunger spring, etc. I will make the largest adjustments from underneath the table and then will use the crank for micro adjustment. I will use the above table dust collection port that is on my Jessem router fence, it works OK.
As a side note, theTriton does not "sound as reliable" as my ol' Porter-cable, I know this is based upon nbothing really. Maybe just an irrational perception. I will see how the Triton stands up time and use .
thanks again
