Well i bought a slightly used 054 6 inch powermatic jointer on a cabinet, yea i know ( slightly)? I but i know this guy. He bought it new just before it was discontinued lost interest in woodworking and all his tools just sat there.
I paid $275.00 and can take it back if i dont like it, this is my first jointer so i dont know if i messed up or not, tool looks great but $$$ , ?.
Any help out there ? Thanks, GER

If the tool is in like new condition I'd say it is a fair to good deal. Most 6" jointers sell for around 200 to 250, but this is a very nice 6" jointer.

Thanks Mike, I injoyed hearing that.

Is the 54A what replaced the 054?
Does my link work? It shows the 54A at about $800.

Even if it is a discontinued model it seems like a good price to me.

Yes, I realized that it is not new, but as "slightly used"it seems like a real good deal at $275 if new ones are at $800.
If its in real good shape, for that price its a steal.
$275 is a fair price for a 6" jointer in good shape. The PM 54 originally sold for about $500.
I wouldn't compare it to a new, $800 PM 54A. The 54A is quite a different machine, with 20" longer beds.
Sorry Larry,
I misunderstood your post. I thought you meant it was a discontinued but new machine.
Mike.please excuse my spelling.
YES IT WAS REPLACED BY THE 54 A , BUT THE 54 A HAS LONGER TABLES.
Thanks for your reply.
