I just removed the wall between my kitchen and my dining room. Both rooms have hardwood floors, but I just found out that the kitchen has a red oak floor and the dining area has white oak floor. Replacing either floor is not an option. I’m looking for ideas for a way to make the transition between the red and white oak floors, filling in the area where the wall was. I thought of using some kind of decorative hardwood pieces, but I don’t know where to find out about them. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Craftsman Random Orbit Sander
While this sander is among the least expensive models in the test, its performance ranks among the best. The stock removal was excellent, and dust collection was solid when used with a vacuum. It handles really smoothly, too, and has a tall body that fit my hand nicely whether I was holding it from above or around the waist.
Bessey Band Clamp
A long, strap-style clamp is hard to beat for assembling strong mitered frames, and this one has a number of user-friendly features.

Bahco 6-Inch Card Scraper
The size and thickness are what matter here. A consistent performer, this Bahco scraper is found in many shops we visit.

any floor supplier (or even Home Depot's Expo Center) will be able to sell you the laser cut decorative inlays for floors.
you can also get them here, http://www.inlays.com/
It sounds like this is a good solution for your problem.
Thank you! That's just what I had in mind. Happy New Year!
Anything will work for a transition, even some of one of the floors.
